I vividly remember the day I decided to venture on a horseback ride through the breathtaking landscapes of Arenal Volcano National Park. My choice couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment I arrived at the ranch, I knew I was about to embark on an unforgettable experience.
The ranch, strategically located just across the entrance of Arenal Volcano National Park, welcomed me with open arms. Its staff, facilities, and, of course, the horses, exuded exceptional care. Everything was impeccably clean, and the horses appeared to be in perfect condition, ready to take me on this exciting journey.
I opted to do this activity on a quiet Sunday morning. Arriving promptly at 8 o’clock, I discovered that I was the only one signed up to ride in the morning. This turned out to be a true privilege, as the guide dedicated herself solely to me, turning the ride into an intimate and personalized experience.
From the very beginning, I was captivated by my guide’s passion and knowledge. It didn’t feel like a typical tourist ride; rather, it felt like I was exploring alongside a friend who shared with me the secrets and history of the area. As we journeyed on, the landscape unfolded before my eyes, offering spectacular views of the volcano, the lake, the jungle, and the wildlife surrounding us.
I fondly recall the moment we stopped by a stream, where we refreshed ourselves and applied volcanic clay masks, further immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of our surroundings. Although we didn’t make it to the lava fields, the overall experience was simply incomparable.
My guide, proficient in English, shared fascinating stories about his life in Costa Rica’s rodeo circuit, adding a personal touch to our adventure. I felt safe and well taken care of at all times, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience.
